Two schools swept up in the flood, hundreds of students still being traced

More than 370 students were at Uttargaya Public School in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot, when the flood hit on Wednesday morning. Vice principal Pawan Sharma told Onlinekhabar the school has only been able to contact around 40 percent of them so far, and that 25 to 30 percent have been handed over to their parents.
Sharma said the school no longer has records for the rest and is still trying to reach their families. Out of contact does not mean dead. Phone and internet lines are still down across much of the district.
At Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nuwakot, principal Rajendra Dawadi and a group of 40 to 50 students and staff who fled to high ground were rescued on Friday, three days after the flood, Onlinekhabar reports. Dawadi said around 15 more students who also fled to higher ground are still waiting to be rescued, and two school employees remain out of contact.
