Prime Minister Balendra Shah said in a Facebook post Friday evening that Nepal has rescued 4,451 people so far in the flood response, Khabarhub reports. That includes people brought out by helicopter and from flooded hydropower tunnels. Nepali Army and private sector helicopters have flown 99 shuttle sorties into Dhunche, Trishuli, Timure and Syabrubesi, and 129 foreign nationals have been rescued and identified.
Shah put the total security personnel now working the flood zone at 15,431: 6,755 from the Nepali Army, 4,473 from Nepal Police and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force, Khabarhub and the Tribune report, citing ANI. That is higher than the 13,295 the Home Administration gave in its own Friday evening tally, and the two counts have not been reconciled.
Rescue and mobilisation totals vary by agency and keep moving. This is the Prime Minister's own figure, separate from Nepal Police's and NDRRMA's counts elsewhere on this page.
