India's foreign ministry says 320 of its nationals still uncontactable
India's Ministry of External Affairs said Friday that 320 Indian nationals remain uncontactable in the flood, and that about 100 more people of Indian origin have also not been reached, ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, the Tribune reports. Jaiswal said the figures are still moving as officials work to reconcile several different lists of missing people.
About 400 Indian nationals stranded on the Chinese side of the border have been confirmed safe, with the Indian embassy in Beijing helping coordinate their evacuation, and 96 of them have already crossed into Nepal by land, the Tribune reports.
India has separately confirmed the rescue of 63 Indian workers from the Trishuli-1 hydropower project, and 21 Indians who reached Kathmandu from the flood zone have already gone on to Delhi.
This is India's own count of its nationals, kept by its own ministry. It is not the same figure as Nepal's missing list, and the two should not be added together.
