European Union pledges 2 million euros in flood aid for Nepal

The European Union has allocated 2 million euros in humanitarian aid for Nepal's flood victims, the EU Delegation to Nepal said in a Friday statement reported by the Rising Nepal.

The money is meant to cover urgent needs including food, healthcare, clean water and sanitation. It comes on top of about 3 million euros the EU had already committed this year for disaster preparedness in Nepal.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Europe stands with Nepal as it responds to the flood.
