Chitwan Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said hospital morgues in the district can together hold only 30 to 50 bodies at a time, short of what the flood has brought them, the Kathmandu Post reports.
Bharatpur Metropolitan City is converting an unused building of the Industrial Enterprise Development Institute, on Vidhyut Road in Bharatpur-10, into temporary storage with room for about 250 bodies. Local business groups are supplying dry ice to slow decomposition while identification continues.
Chitwan has recorded more bodies than any other district in this flood, most of them carried down the Trishuli and Narayani from Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
Families looking for someone should go through the District Police Office or the local ward office rather than to hospitals directly, since those are the lists that get updated centrally.
